(09:27:20 AM, 25/09/2017)

According to Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Border Committee, the legal documents on Vietnam-Laos boundary have been completed. The two parties have revised, supplemented and printed out the official set of Vietnam - Laos national boundary maps.

The two countries have also signed two important documents: the  protocol on borderline and border markers and the agreement on land border and border checkpoint management mechanisms between Vietnam and Laos. The two documents came into effect from September 5, 2017.

In the near future, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to publish a set of Vietnam - Laos boundary standard maps.

It is reported that the national landmark system between the two countries includes 834 key milestones at 792 locations as originally planned, and 168 additional milestones at 113 locations to clarify the borderline in some areas. The total number of milestones over the border increases 4.5 times than the previous one, with an average distance between two milestones of 2.6 km.

The national landmarks and marked piles are measured by GPS, describing the direction of the border and its topography from North to South.
