From September 18 to 20, the 10th Asia-Pacific Global Earth Observation System of Systems, Asia-Pacific (GEOSS-AP 10) will be held in Hanoi with the attendance of nearly 200 participants coming from many countries around the world such as China, Japan, Australia, etc.

According to Prof. Chau Van Minh - President of Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), this is an opportunity for parties to understand the needs of Asia and Oceania on observing organism and the sea; database and sharing of data; thereby defining the method of promoting space technology and applying it for disaster management towards the sustainable socio-economic development.

As one of the countries heavily influenced by global climate change, the workshop is also an opportunity for Vietnam to explore information and experience of other countries related to space technology; promote activities of researching, applying and developing space technology for disaster monitoring and damage mitigation.

It is known that in recent years, under the direction of "Strategies for research and application of aerospace technology up to 2020" the Ministry of Science and Technology and VAST have activities to expand international cooperation in space technology; organize international conferences on the application of space technology for socio-economic development, especially in the fields of natural disaster prevention, environment and natural resources management
