 Vietnam asks National Geographic to fix mapping error (15/03/2010)
Vietnam on Saturday said the US National Geographic Society was wrong in publishing a world map that shows the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands as belonging to China.
 Earthquakes Move the World (12/03/2010)
(Researchnews)-When there is a large earthquake, it basically means that a major geological stress was released. When that happens the earth will literally move. It may not be as dramatic as some motion pictures may show but it does happen. The massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake that struck the west coast of Chile last month moved the entire city of Concepcion at least 10 feet to the west, and shifted other parts of South America as far apart as the Falkland Islands and Fortaleza, Brazil. These preliminary measurements, produced from data gathered by researchers from four universities and several agencies, including geophysicists on the ground in Chile, paint a much clearer picture of the power behind this temblor, believed to be the fifth most powerful since about 1900.
 Border patrol roads ensure security, promote economic growth(12/03/2010)
The northern province of Quang Ninh and the Central Highlands provinces of Kon Tum and Gia Lai are the first localities to complete roads for patrolling the shared border. The roads, apart from facilitating the defence of national sovereignty and ensuring security along the shared border, have contributed to promoting socio-economic development in border localities, Major General Hoang Kien, Director of the Border Patrol Road Project Management Board said in a press briefing on the project in Hanoi on March 11.

 Hanoi to build satellite city in Hoa Lac(08/03/2010)
Hanoi will develop five satellite cities, and the first will be built some 35 kilometers west of center city in Hoa Lac, near Ba Vi Mountain, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Dinh Toan said on March 3. Toan spoke to reporters after the Cabinet was briefed on a controversial master plan to guide development of the capital to 2030 and a ‘vision to 2050.’..
 Ha Noi urban planning falls short (05/03/2010)
Many new urban areas in the capital have been found to lack schools and other necessary public works in a recent inspection carried out by the municipal Peoples Committee. In addition, many initial plans had been adjusted after receiving planning permission, the inspection report said. Vice Chairman of the committee Phi Thai Binh said that investors had only focused on building apartments for profiteering but ignored other important infrastructure components.
 New Vietnam-Cambodia bordergate opens (05/03/2010)
The People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province on March 3 inaugurated the Hoang Dieu-Lapakhe Bordergate in Bu Dop district, which is contiguous to Mundulkiri province of Cambodia.
 Scores of Hanois future projects to be amended(04/03/2010)
Over 244 planning, construction and investment projects for Hanoi have been re-evaluated, and many of these projects will be revised and corrected in accordance with the city’s general planning rules. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed, in principle, for these projects to be carried on, but Hanoi authority will need to coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to revise and correct all projects tto insure they work within the framework of the citys future planning..
